Columbia Light Roadster 1889

This model was called the Columbia light roadster. It is the second model safety made by Columbia, starting late 1888. Last patent mentioned on the plate is nov. 1888.
The great difference with the Veloce Columbia is of course the ball head and the front suspension system, which is familiar to a system that Rudge already used. The wheels are big: 32 inch front, 30 inch rear.

The bike on the pictures is a nice original example, seat has a new cover nut the rest of this hard tire safety looks very original. Is was sold on the New York Copake auction in 2010.
